Being interviewed

You’ve been asked to talk to Surface. Here is what happens to what you say.

Fig. 14, The stoa: A long covered walk of Doric columns above the sea, with stripes of light across the stone floor.

Your company, or an adviser working for it, wants to understand how the work really gets done, and has asked you to help. This page sets out what the interview is, who sees what you say, and the choices you have.

01What this is

Surface is an AI interviewer. Your company, or an adviser working for it, is using it to understand how work really gets done in your part of the business.

02What it is not

It is not a performance review. The questions are about the work: how it moves, where it waits, and what gets in the way.

03How it works

It takes about fifteen minutes. Talk or type, your choice. The interviewer asks follow-up questions, the way a person would, and you can skip any question.

Your link is private to you and expires after seven days, so you can pick a time that suits you.

04How you are quoted

You choose: by name, by role only, or not quoted at all. If you don’t choose, you are quoted by role only.

05Who can see what

Your company sees the findings and the quotes you allowed. It does not see your transcript.

A small number of Surface staff can open a transcript to support the service.

06Recordings

We do not keep recordings of voice interviews. Audio passes through our speech provider to be turned into text.

If you upload a recording, it is deleted once it has been transcribed.

07What else Surface reads

Your company may also share records about the work from its own systems, such as the dates and steps of a process. Surface reads them alongside the interviews.

08What happens after you talk

What people say is brought together into findings, each linked to the quotes behind it. The findings go to a named person at your company who decides what to change.

09Language

Interviews are in English for now.

10Security and data

Interview data is stored in the EU (Stockholm). The application and AI processing run in the United States. Surface runs on Vercel and Supabase, and the database is backed up daily.

Security documents are available to client companies under NDA.

11Your choices

You can stop at any time, skip any question, and choose how you are quoted. If you want to know what happens to answers you have already given, ask us at the address below.

12Who to ask

Your company’s contact for the project, or Surface at patrick@autospark.ai. Surface is built by AutoSpark, a product of Brightgro LLC.
